Plan your Weekend

Where do I go for my events?

ALL Carden Nature Festival outings begin and end at the Carden Recreational Centre located at 258 Lake Dalrymple Road. The registration table is also located at this centre. Please stop by this table when you arrive.

Where do I park?

There will be a parking area near the centre. Parking assistants will be on hand to help guide you to the location.

What should I bring?

The Carden alvar contains a variety of habitats and terrains, almost all of the Festival events will involve walking in natural conditions. Participants are asked to wear sturdy footwear and to bring suitable clothing for adverse weather conditions such as rain or hot weather. This would include sunhats for protection from the hot conditions, and raingear. If you are attending a night time event, a light jacket is suggested. There are biting insects (eg. mosquitoes) at certain locations, so bug jackets are also suggested. Please also bring your own beverage, especially water, and a snack.

What about if I’m going on a paddling or cycling event?

For water events: Participants are required to bring along their own vessel (canoe or kayak), paddles, personal flotation devices, and anything else your vessel requires.
For cycling event: Participants are required to bring along their own bicycle, helmet, and should also bring any other gear they use when cycling (i.e. gloves, sunglasses, bike shorts).

Can I purchase food at the event?

There will be a caterer on site for the Festival who will be selling lunches, beverages, and snacks.

Planning on staying in the area for the weekend?

For more information on local accommodations, restaurants and other amenities, please go to the Carden Regional Guide website where you’ll find local business listings, information of accomodations (including B&Bs) and maps of the area.

Can I bring my kids? What about pets?

Children under 12 are free to accompany parents or take part in children’s programs and fun fest. There are a number of events that children are not allowed to attend – you can find that information in the description of each event on the List of Activities page. You cannot take dogs or other pets on events, but are welcome to bring them to the Carden Nature Festival. Please use your discretion when deciding on whether or not it is appropriate to bring your pet and keep your dog on a leash.

The organizers of the Carden Nature Festival would also request participants read the following before registering:
